SPREAD Final Conference: over 220 participants start activating the roadmap to Sustainable Lifestyles 2050
Our conference „Catalyzing Action: EU Sustainable Lifestyles Roadmap & Action Plan to 2050“ was a big success. Over 220 participants from all over Europe came together to learn about the latest outcomes of the project – the Roadmap to Sustainable Lifestyles 2050, the Research Agenda, demonstrating the most urgent research needs, the report on iFuture, our people’s forum showing how concrete lifestyle changes can look like, and the magazine “EUROPEAN LIFESTYLES. The Future Issue” which presents all project outcomes. Most participants took the chance to calculate their personal material footprint in the market place.
Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, underlined in her 
welcome keynote the importance of the SPREAD Roadmap and Action Plan for 2050. She acknowledged that SPREAD is at the forefront of the efforts to enable Europe to enable sustainable living in 2050.
Domenico Rossetti di Valdalbero, Principal Administrator at the EC, Social Sciences and Humanities Programme, Directorate General for Research and Innovation and Carina Törnblom, Head of Unit Consumer Strategy, Representation and International Relations, Directorate-General for Health and Consumers provided inputs from the research and consumer point of view. After the SPREAD Roadmap and Action Plan for 2050 were presented, participants discussed the most important must enablers and actions in different thematic workshops, ranging from behaviour change and social innovation to localization and new business models.
On the market place, participants had the opportunity to calculate their own material footprint and all results were collected on different sized footprints on the wall. To make a journey to 2050, the SPREAD Scenarios were brought to life through some live acting on stage and short movies showing the life in the future.
